RVS encourages applications from individuals who can help shape and embody our core values of Leadership, People, Community and Innovation, and support our vision that RVS is a world-class learning organization where all students achieve their absolute best. <p>The Opportunity <p>RVS invites applications for a temporary, full-time (35 hrs/wk) Student Support Worker position for our Learning Supports department starting immediately and ending June 27, 2025. The successful candidate must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operators License in order to provide services to all RVS locations.<p>The Student Support Worker will be required to bring to life strategies within the student?s behaviour support plan across a variety of learning environments. This may include proactive strategies to predict and prevent challenging behaviours, as well as implement safety plans when physical aggression does occur, One-to-One support is provided within the context of constructive relationships that engage and empower students and, as much as possible, promote their care and welfare, and uphold their individual rights.<p>Responsibilities Include <p><p> Provides support to maintain student safety when a student is demonstrating significant trauma-impacted stress response, extreme emotional and/or behavioural dysregulation and/or acute levels of risk.<p> Reinforces strategies as directed by the teacher(s) and identified in Personalized Learning Plan (PLP), Individualized Program Plans (IPP), Behaviour Support Plans (BSP), safety plans, and medical plans, in programming for the diverse needs of students.<p> Implements teacher led modifications of IPPs and PLPs to meet the learning needs of the individual student(s).<p> Implements behaviour management strategies for students as needed<p> Records observations and other data on behavioural challenges and creates records that can be used to support positive behaviour strategies for students as directed by the teacher(s).<p> Supervises students under the direction of the teacher.<p> Motivates and engages students to encourage the development of their positive behavioural, social, and emotional well-being, in consultation with the teacher(s).<p> Willing and able to lift up to 50lbs.<p><p>Education/Experience <p><p> Two-year Diploma in a related field such as Child and Youth Care, Human Services, Social Work or a combination<p> One year of experience in a related field<p> An equivalent combination of directly related education and directly related experience may be considered<p> Certification in Standard First Aid and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention course or equivalent <p> Knowledge of related support agencies and professionals within the community<p> Training in preventative/de-escalating behaviour course and/or willingness to become certified in divisional programs<p><p>Rocky View Schools Benefits <p><p> 6% vacation pay<p> This position does not qualify for benefits or sick time<p> Professional development and training opportunities<p> Free Parking<p><p>Pre-employment Requirements <p><p> The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment<p> Proof of qualifications/education as required by the position<p> <p><p>Open to- LocationAirdrie, AB
