Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Corrections. Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance). Crime prevention. Work setting: Urban area. Social service or charity agency. Cultural organization. Tasks: Interview inmates to assess adjustment problems. Prepare reports or case histories. Administrative and office activities. Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services. Assess offenders' prospects for successful reintegration into the community. Perform administrative tasks. Plan rehabilitation programs with offenders, establishing rules of conduct, goals and objectives. Implement life skills workshops. Refer offenders to community and social services programs. Liaise with the inmates' families and contacts in the community. Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs. Conduct follow-up assessments. Develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community. Housekeeping activities. Assist offenders in pre-release and release planning. Implement behaviour management programs. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients. Develop service intervention logic models and outcome measures. Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research. Screen, recruit and train volunteers and support staff. Accompany clients to appointments and social outings. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. 3-4 people. 5-10 people. 11-15 people. 16-20 people.
