Build a Future at the City of Surrey ScopeThe City?s Communications & Engagement Division is currently seeking a seasoned Communications Specialist to provide communications planning and professional services to guide marketing for key initiatives, services, programs, and events. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a team to support services for strategic planning, writing, media relations, and content development across various channels.Employment StatusUnion - CUPE Local 402 - Term (1 year)Responsibilities In this role you will: Provide high-level communications advice and guidance to internal clients on complex corporate campaigns and key initiatives. Develop and implement multi-channel strategic marketing and communications plans and key messaging for priority portfolios, programs and projects. Preparing and updating marketing/communication plans and ensuring marketing requests align with City branding, strategic directions, marketing plans, organization priorities Develop creative marketing copy and strategic content for corporate reports, memos, speaking notes, presentations and other written material in multiple online and offline mediums. Support senior management on issues management and crisis communications. Conducts presentations on communications and related topics. Supports managers in key messaging, fact sheets and talking points in support of issues management and crisis management. Hires, trains, coaches and oversees the work of junior staff. Develops and administers annual budget including monitoring of expenditures and revenues, signing authority over specific projects and prepares related reports as required. Provides input and recommendations to manager, regarding division policies and procedures. Represents the department and the City of Surrey to the public, professional colleagues, outside agencies and sits on various committees both internally and externally. QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will have:University or college level graduation in a related discipline supplemented by formal business training. 3-5 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated knowledge of communications principles, practices, methods, and techniques is an asset.Other InformationHourly Rate: $40.60Steps Hourly RateStep 1 $40.60Step 2 (6 Months) $42.19Step 3 (18 Months) $43.77Step 4 (30 Months) $45.61Step 5 (42 Months) $47.52 Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
