SOCIAL WORKER <p>1.0 FTE Temporary position (December 9, 2024 May 17,<p>2026)<p>The Simcoe<p>County District School Board is committed to supporting the academic<p>achievement and mental health and well-being of all students. Reporting to the Mental Health Lead and the<p>Assistant Manager of Social Work Services, working as part of a<p>multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate(s) will: Provide individual and small group counselling to<p> students struggling with mental health and addiction concerns.<p> Provide suicide risk and violent threat risk<p> assessment, in collaboration with family, school, community and health system<p> partners. Provide response where school communities have been impacted by a<p> traumatic event.<p> Provide psychoeducation to staff, students and<p> families on mental health and addiction topics, addressing the intersection<p> with equity, special education, and Indigenous Education needs.<p> Collaborate in the development of prevention and<p> intervention initiatives, with an emphasis on safe schools. Areas include but<p> are not limited to bullying prevention, substance use, suicide prevention,<p> pathways to mental health care and leading mentally healthy schools.<p> Work with school staff to build capacity and<p> support the advancement of mental health literacy and delivery of mental health<p> and well-being prevention, and promotion strategies, education, programs, and<p> services inclusive and reflective of student mental health need, while drawing<p> upon the best evidence and research available.<p> Provide coaching and consultative services to<p> school staff and parents in response to and to promote understanding of the<p> mental health needs of students and school communities.<p> Provide system navigation and referral services to<p> students and families.<p> Collaborate with various community partners within<p> Simcoe County in response to student mental health needs.<p> Provide support and service rooted in cultural<p> humility, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive practice.Qualifications: Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree is required.<p> Preference will be given to candidates with a Master of Social Work (MSW)<p> degree.<p> Membership, in good standing, with the Ontario<p> College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).<p> 3 years experience in children and youth mental health<p> services delivering individual and group counselling and consultative and<p> coaching services to support positive outcomes for children, youth, and their<p> families.<p> Expertise<p> in anti-oppressive, brief, strengths-based and evidence informed<p> interventions. Expertise in BRISC, Brief<p> Digital Interventions, Single Session, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive<p> Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Informed and Responsive Education practices.<p> Demonstrated skill in<p> suicide risk assessment and response and traumatic incident response.<p> Facilitator status of<p> safeTALK and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) an asset.<p> Demonstrated<p> knowledge of service delivery approaches rooted in intersectionality, anti-racist<p> and anti-oppressive practice that nurture safe(r) spaces, cultural humility,<p> and inclusivity.<p> Demonstrated experience in<p> developing successful collaborations both within a school board as well as with<p> the wider community. Knowledge of community and social service agencies,<p> their mandate, programs, and services.<p> D
