Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Various locations. Industrial. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Select, measure, cut, ream and thread pipe. Supervision: Pipefitters. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Work under pressure. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Client focus. Team player. Dependability. Screening questions: What is your current field of study?.
