*Please note:* This position is based out of our head office for Ontario, in Peterborough. It cannot be performed remotely. Intermittent visits to project sites throughout Ontario (i.e Ottawa, Toronto, North Bay, Guelph) is required.

*Job Summary*
Reporting to the Vice president of Ontario and working in a close cooperation with the QSE manager in Quebec this position is responsible for the company health and safety, including health and safety compliance, applicable trainings, site assessments, reporting and other.
*Responsibilities*
Compliance:
· Review and apply changes to QHSE legislation
· Review and improve project work methods to align with the current legislative standards and requirements
· In conjunction with the QSE manager develop and update organizational policies and processes to ensure H&S compliance
· Prepare for and actively participate in safety audits conducted by IHSA, ISO and clients
· Participate in regular meetings with project teams to review health and safety issues, trends and upcoming work or events
· Develop new work procedures, site safety plans, return to work duties, address safety concerns with subcontractors, and other QHSE ?related project-specific requirements as needed
· Review client agreements and compare against project health and safety documents to ensure CDB?s contractual safety obligations to clients are met
Site Inspections:
· In coordination with the site superintendent, conduct biweekly construction site inspections to ensure compliance and CDB H&S Program
· Document and follow-up on non-compliances, accidents, incidents, near-misses, interventions and any other QHSE-related event by completing and submitting paperwork, including reports to WSIB and company management. Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines
· Review project?s safety management plans to ensure deficiencies, and if any, correct as quickly as possible
· Plan and conduct emergency preparedness measures including practice evacuations and spill cleanup procedures
Management of the H&S related incidents:
· Review / develop guidelines and procedures for the incident investigation process
· Train site superintendents on the incidents investigation process
· Actively participate and lead incidents investigations
· Develop and apply incidents prevention program
· Coordinate RTW program
Training and Coaching:
- Conduct new hires H&S orientation session and required applicable training (WHIMIS, Confined Spaces training, other)
- Keep records of the QHSE employees? trainings, monitor expiration dates to ensure certifications stay current and valid
- Outsource external QHS
