The Controller is responsible for the accounting team, administration support staff, financial reporting, budget preparation, sales and margin analysis, as well as development of internal control policies, ERP management and maintaining financially sound procedures within the entire organization. In addition, the Controller is responsible for cash management and financial risk management. This position ensures all revenue and financial data is accurately recorded, reported and submitted on time
*Responsibilities*
Financial Accounting
* Own transactional accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P and GL
* Reconciles and consolidates financial records and operating and financial statements, coordinates monthly and annual closing processes, prepares general ledger for review and ensures financial accounting and reporting adheres to ASPE and corporate policies.
* Develop, document and maintain a system of accounting policies and procedures that provide coverage for all basic transactional functions of the accounting department
* Manage month-end processes including delivery of timely and accurate interim financial statements
* Prepare cash flow projections as required
* Maintain professional banking relationships and bank agreements
* Coordinates and directs the development and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and projections
* Coordinates the annual financial audit/review. Responds to auditor?s reports on internal controls by investigating processes and procedures and makes recommendations on modifying identified issues.
Financial Accounting
* Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments and pricing decisions
* Prepare financial plans, forecasts, report variances and budgeting
* Coordinate with all departments to establish and maintain relevant Key performance indicators and other performance measurements to assist in operational decision making.
* Help identify trends and opportunities for improvements, analyze performance and present findings to management
* Establish annual overhead rates as required by ASPE
* Review manufacturing statement and ensure its accuracy
* Provide oversight on annual and regular cycle counts
* Establish and prepare regular management reporting and ad hoc reporting as needed
* Assist with Tax Claims
Strategy, Risk and Governance
* Negotiates and monitors risk transfer solutions; assists with negotiating all leases; manage expenditures to ensure cost effective/efficient solutions
* Assists in the development of corporate strategy where required, translation into plans, and monitoring of performance
* Ensures proper stewardship of financial resources, support for decision management, and effective controls
* Prepare management reports and present findings and recommendations to ELT
* Research technical accounting issues for compliance
* Ensures that company complies with all provincial and federal legislated taxation, reporting requirements; verifies financial signing authority limits
* Identifies, evaluates, and prioritizes risks and applies resources to minimize, monitor, and control the likelihood of negative impact
Management Information Systems
* Supports and provides recommendations, plans, and solutions towards the formulation of IT strategic plan ensuring alignment with the corporate strategy.
* Participates in development and maintenance of accounting and systems-related projects
* System administrator and super-user of Syspro. Establish and oversee user training.
