Principal, Glenwood School <p>Glenwood School is a 1 12 school which provides supports and services to students with complex learning, physical and medical needs. Every student at Glenwood has an individualized plan for learning and development. These individualized plans focus on activities of daily living which includes social interaction, communication skills, pre-academic, academic and vocational skills. Working with and alongside families is critical to the achievement and well-being of the students at Glenwood. This includes supporting families with accessing internal and external resources and supporting students and families as they leave Glenwood and transition to community placements.<p>Community partners play a fundamental role in supporting students. This includes working with organizations such as Ron Joyce, McMaster, colleges, Lynwood Charlton, and representing student needs at community tables. Community partners also provide support within the school as needed.<p>The principal of Glenwood must have demonstrated leadership in special education and have a strong passion and commitment for supporting students with special education needs. The principal must also value innovation and be willing to work with Special Education, Inclusion and Equity leadership on the introduction of new programs with new partners, in support of student learning and well-being.<p>We welcome expressions of interest from leaders who have a demonstrated history and commitment to supporting students with special education needs.<p>Committed to our HWDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan (2023-2028), an applicant for this opportunity maintains the following competencies: Upholding Human Rights, Safety & Well-being <p> Providing Equitable Quality Supports and Services <p> Collaborating with Students, Families, Communities and Staff <p> Building a Sustainable Education System <p> Reinforcing Indigenous Educational Wellness & Reconciliation The Principal of Glenwood will report to the Superintendent of Special Education, Inclusion and Equity.<p>Duties include but are not limited to: Principal of Glenwood School (1 12 but current student population is Grade 9 to 12)<p> Supervision of school and system staff located at Glenwood<p> Supporting the development of individualized student programs<p> Monitor and support the implementation of student plan<p> Support student transition planning<p> Deep, ongoing collaboration with families<p> Problem-solving with internal and external partners to support complex student needs<p> Scheduling the Kinesiologist to support Multiple Classes within the system<p> Collaborate with community partners and internal staff on the development of innovative programs to support students who access special education supports and services. <p> Collaborate with educators, administrators and other professionals to support the academic and social success of students with disabilities <p> Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services and make adjustments where needed. <p> Build collective staff efficacy related to intervention(s) for students with disabilities <p> Manage budgets in alignment with the Board Multi-Year Strategic Plan <p> Undertaking staff supervision and performance appraisals<p> Will provide consultation support to schools across the Board<p> Will provide support to the central Special Education Department as required<p> Supervise and support students who have a time limited diagnostic placement at Glenwood<p> Supervise and support system staff who may be supporting a diagnostic approach for 1-12 students placed at Glenwood<p> Other duties as assigned The candidate will have demonstrated: An equity perspective regarding the inclusion and success of studen- LocationHamilton, ON
