*Overview*
Kowarsky Ritson LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our collections litigation team, primarily in the servicing of a federal goverment agency contract. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, work well with others in the team and independently, and have experience in the collections field and with BC Supreme Court and Smaill Claims Court procedures. This role is crucial in supporting our lawyers and paralegals and ensuring the smooth operation of our legal practice.
*Responsibilities*
* Managing case files through all stages of the legal process;
* maintaining organized records using both government online platform and physical records/files;
* maintaining an efficient file management and bring-foward system;
* preparing, proof-reading, filing and arranging service of Supreme Court and Provincial (Small Claims) Court documents and correspondence;
* preparing and receiving correspondence and communicating with debtors or their legal counsel by letter, email and telephone;
* Coordinate schedules, appointments, and court hearings for lawyers;
* general administrative duties as may be required
*Qualifications and Experience*
* Minimum one year experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment is preferred.
* Legal Administative Assistant Certificate or similar from an accredited BC post-secondary institution.
* quick-learning ability.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Excellent proofreading skills with attention to detail in written communication.
* Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
* Ability to write clearly and concisely for various legal documents and correspondence.
* A proactive attitude towards case management and problem-solving within a team environment.
* must pass a criminal record and Protected B federal government security background check.
