We are looking for positive individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.</p><p><strong>Job Summary:</strong></p><p>The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various aspects of accounting and bookkeeping. GSI anticipates that the selected individual will be able to "hit the ground running". This will come from past accounting experience, a strong understanding of deadlines, bookkeeping and financial concepts, and a strong desire for the team to be successful.</p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Preparation of Purchase Orders according to company guidelines, and accompanying processing/posting of invoices</li><li>Participate in special projects and initiatives as required</li><li>Preparation of work-in-progress reports with a comparison to the budget</li><li>Recording of accounts payable and payments</li><li>Vendor statement reconciliations</li><li>Preparation of annual, monthly, and quarterly HST/other tax documents</li><li>Managing deadlines</li><li>Financial analysis, including budget to actual comparisons</li><li>Preparation of monthly financial statements</li><li>Participate in process control initiatives</li><li>Other tasks as deemed necessary in this evolving corporation</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>University or College degree in Accounting/Finance</li><li>CPA designation in Canada is a "nice to have"</li><li>Minimum five years of experience in an <span class="long-word">accounting/bookkeeping</span> role</li><li>Inherent understanding of debits and credits is essential</li><li>Excellent organizational skills</li><li>Proficiency with technology</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team</li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and strong initiative are key attributes</li><li>Clear and effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing</li><li>Word and Excel expertise</li><li>QuickBooks hands-on experience would be an asset</li><li>Public accounting experience is a "nice to have"</li></ul></div>Company Description<div>Our team is committed to developing utility-scale solar projects that meet the needs and specifications of each individual proposal.
