*Job Summary:* The Accounting Clerk will support the college?s day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and record-keeping. This role involves handling various accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and collaborating with members of the accounting team and other departments.
*Key Responsibilities:*
Accounts Payable:
* Process and manage vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments, accurate record-keeping and maintaining electronic filing system.
* Reconcile accounts payable transactions, purchase orders, vendor statement of account, students refund and resolve discrepancies.
* Allocate e-transfer payments against invoices and posting bank transactions.
Accounts Receivable:
* Monitor the accounts receivable email.
* Post deposit reports and coordinate deposits with the Financial Aid Officer and International Director.
* Perform withdrawal, graduate, and continuing student reconciliations.
* Clear the program refunds account.
* Prepare, verify, and send invoice requests via email or fax.
* Coordinate with the Financial Aid Officer on grant invoicing and maintain tracking.
Expense Tracking:
* Monitor and record college expenses, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines and institutional policies.
* Reconcile employee expenses, corporate credit card transactions, and Concur expense submissions.
General Ledger:
* Prepare journal entries and ensure accurate posting of transactions.
* Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Financial Reporting:
* Contribute or assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Record Keeping:
* Ensure accurate and organized maintenance of financial records and documentation.
* Assist with archiving and retrieval of financial documents.
Audit Support:
* Provide necessary documentation and support for internal and external audits.
* Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and reports.
Compliance:
* Adhere to accounting standards, college policies, and relevant regulations and internal controls.
* Ensure that financial practices comply with legal and institutional requirements.
Administrative Support:
* Offer general administrative support to the accounting and Finance team, including data entry, filing, and other clerical tasks as needed.
Other
* Ad hoc Reporting
* Perform other related duties as required
*Qualification and Experience*
? Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
? Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred, but recent graduates with relevant education will also be considered.
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Great Plains) is beneficial.
? Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Must be dependable and able to work well under pressure.
? Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of financial regulations and standards applicable to educational institutions is an asset.
? Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and vendors.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$555,000.00 per year
