Our facility in Burlington Ontario has been in operation since 1975. Our primary products out of this location are Wound Distributed Gap Cores, Mitre and Butt Lap Laminations, Logs and Fully Assembled Cores, Steel Sales, Custom Slitting and warehousing for Tempel Steel?s Laminations. *Job Summary:* The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing environmental health and safety programs to prevent injury, occupational illness, and damage to property or the environment and to ensure the company is compliant and drives world class safety regarding OHSA, CEPA and other applicable local regulations. *Principle Duties & Responsibilities:* * Facilitate employee orientation and onboarding for environmental health and safety training, updating training records in company database * Identify environmental health and safety training needs, coordinate and schedule training sessions and evaluations under the direction of management * Ensure company-wide compliance with OHSA of Ontario * Ensure health and safety communication boards are up to date, schedule Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and inspections, follow-up on JHSC items and prepare/follow-up on work orders * Assist in investigating workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures * Maintain accurate records of incidents and report findings to management and relevant authorities as required * Assist and support special environmental health and safety projects, including Risk Analysis on machines/equipment, Job Task Analysis and Physical Demands Analysis * Update and revise environmental health and safety policy manual and work instructions, develop communication plan and communicate to employees * Assist in the development and maintenance of environmental health and safety policies * Complete and submit WSIB Form 7 for workplace illness/injury * Manage WSIB claims, coordinate return to work (RTW) programs * Coordinate annual file drills and emergency evacuation procedures * Request, track, and file WSIB clearance certificates and ensure contractor documentation is up to date * Follow-up on pre-start reviews (PSRs) * Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits at all production facilities and warehouses to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions * Maintain Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) program including waste manifests and other environmental obligations * Track documentation for contractors and liaise with Supply Chain * Active member of the JHSC, co-chair meetings at least every quarter * Prepare meeting minutes for JHSC meetings and post in a timely manner * Update workplace health and safety inspection form monthly and post on health and safety communication board, including following up on outstanding items * Ensure safety data sheets (SDS) binders are up to date * Primarily an on-site role * Any other tasks assigned, including administrative functions *Required Qualifications:* * Occupational Health & Safety Certificate or Undergraduate degree with a focus on Health & Safety * CPR ? First Aid Certificate * 2-4 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment * Certified JHSC Representative * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications * Strong attention to detail * Excellent communication skills _Please note that only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted._ Selected candidates with disabilities who require special needs in the selection process will be accommodated to the best of our ability.
