Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dirty. Noisy. Work setting: Motor vehicle repair shop. Level of expertise: Technician. Tasks: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit. Discuss work with supervisor. Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Road test motor vehicles . Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems. Repair or replace mechanical units or components. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Test and adjust units to specifications. Complete reports to record problems and work performed. Provide customer service. Troubleshoot electrical or mechanical systems failures. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification. Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Instrument experience: Mechanical. Area of specialization: Engine repair. Electrical and electronic system. Diesel engines. Diagnostics. Alignment, steering and suspension. Brake system. Fuel and emission system. Ignition and electrical system. Standard transmission.
