Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Tasks: Train students, other technologists or nurses. Check, calibrate and perform routine maintenance to equipment. Operate electromyography and diagnostic equipment. Prepare recordings and reports of findings for physicians. Review patient's case history and assess nature of problem to determine procedures and tests required. Monitor cardiac activity and record results. Operate electrocardiographs, cardiac ultrasound and other electronic equipment. Perform cardiovascular procedures and tests. Prepare reports for interpretation by cardiologists. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists Registration. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. Area of specialization: Electrocardiography tests. Ambulatory monitoring. Exercise stress testing. Holter monitoring/scanning. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Fast-paced environment. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication.
