As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Registered Early Childhood Educator will:
* provide a high quality learning and supportive child care program that addresses the unique needs of children and families at Kids Haven Community Child Care;
* provide exceptional supervision and programming based on children?s emerging skills, interests and needs; And
* Develop and assist the implementation of high quality developmentally appropriate enriched activities for children to facilitate their physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. Supports a team environment in the classroom and the Centre
* The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) will function within the scope of practice defined by College of Early Childhood Educators (Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice), the childcare licensing standards as identified by the City of Toronto, Ministry of Education and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014
*Responsibilities and Duties*
* Be knowledgeable of and adhere to licensing requirements set out by the City of Toronto Children?s Services Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) and the Ontario Ministry of Education
* Minimum of 2 years experience working with children
* Complete tasks assigned during each shift
* Ability to lift up to 20 kg ( 44 lbs.), bending and stooping, pushing, carrying and pulling
* *Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold*
* *Flexibility regarding assigned working hours. Must be available to work between the hours of 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. May include split shifts*
* Adhere to professional obligations for continuous learning
* Meet children?s needs in a supportive and empathetic manner
* Role model appropriate behaviour
* Create programming that is developmentally appropriate and offers meaningful learning experiences through balancing indoor/outdoor, quiet/active, and individual/group activities
* Establishing, implementing, and maintaining daily activity schedules and care routines
* Developing Individualized Program Plans and Developmental Support Plans for each child
* Adhere to behaviour guidance policies established by Kids Haven Community Child Care
* Observe and document children?s daily activities
* Maintain clear and concise reporting of accidents, injuries, illnesses, as well as conducting health checks of children
* Assists children in washing, dressing, toileting, and eating to support the capacity of self-help skills
* Ensures toys and equipment used in activities are maintained in a safe clean condition and kept in a good state of repair. Sets up activity area and ensures physical environment is safe
* Takes work direction from the Executive Director and Assistant Director as necessary
* Actively participates in staff meetings
* Work collaboratively and respectfully with co-workers, families and community partners
* Discuss daily activities, progress and concerns with families
* Provide an environment for students which supports learning, development, guidance and evaluation
*Qualifications and Skills*
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
* *Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators and in good standing*
* *MUST have a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an accredited College in Ontario*
* *Up to date Medical Assessment including up to date immunizations and TB test*
* *Current Standard First Aid Certification including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR Level C)*
* *Clear Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening dated within 6 months of hire date*
* Experience in a licensed child care work and activities
* Ability to supervise children
* Ability to cooperate and follow instructions
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
* Fundamental knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ch
