Parts for Trucks has been an industry leader providing parts and service to the heavy-duty trucking industry for over 100 years. With operations coast to coast, we offer a comprehensive range of products and services for all makes of trucks and trailers.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated *Category* *Manager* to join our team in Dartmouth. This is a full-time, permanent, in-office position, reporting to the Purchasing Manager.
The Category Manager is responsible for driving growth in sales and gross margins across a specific product grouping while optimizing inventory efficiency. This role will work collaboratively with sales, marketing, and operations teams to develop category strategies and deliver value to our customers.
*Position Details:*
* Develop and execute a comprehensive category strategy by analyzing market trends, product performance, competitor offerings, and customer feedback.
* Determine product assortment, minimum stocking levels, replenishment paths and pricing strategies.
* Identify and establish supplier partnerships, negotiating favorable terms such as pricing, payment schedules, and delivery conditions.
* Monitor supplier performance to ensure consistent quality and manage inventory effectively, collaborating with operations for efficient warehousing and distribution.
* Collaborate with sales teams to drive category growth through effective product training and support
* Work with vendors to improve acquisition costs, negotiate promotions, and introduce new products and lines.
* Partner with marketing to supply product ideas for flyers and promotions, ensuring alignment with broader marketing campaigns.
* Ensure accurate data and product merchandising on the company website in collaboration with the e-commerce team.
*Requirements:*
* A degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; an MBA is an asset.
* Previous experience in a Category Manager role or related position, ideally in the heavy-duty or aftermarket parts industry.
* In-depth knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and aftermarket products.
* Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
