We extend our respect to all First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples for their valuable past and present contributions to this land.<p> <p> <p>Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Construction, and under the direction of the Project Coordinator, the Projects Officer (Architectural) is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and executing architectural and structural drawings and specifications for the timely delivery of school projects. The Project Officer?s duties include tendering and contract administration of renovations, alterations and upgrading of Board facilities including portables; preparing and maintaining fire safety plans and asbestos management program; updating building condition and project data in VFA Facilities.<p><p> <p>Key Responsibilities:<p><p> <p> Responsible for the implementation of annual capital/renewal projects, budget control, CAD design and development of working drawings and construction documents in accordance with Board policies and procedures, relevant regulations, and industry practices<p> <p> <p> Provide direction to professional consultants, tendering, contract administration, and monitoring work in progress, for a range of in-house school facility renewal and major maintenance projects<p> <p> <p> Assists with the development of project priorities based on an established facility condition database<p> <p> <p> Administration of project budgets, project management and project reporting.<p> <p> <p> Attends annual Facility VFA audit inspections, reviews and updates the VFA Facilities database, and updates completed projects data as required by the Ministry of Education to comply with reporting deadlines<p> <p> <p> Participates on committees and focus groups as needed<p> <p><p><p> <p>Qualifications:<p> <p><p> <p> Degree or diploma in architectural or engineering technology or a related field<p> <p> <p> 5 years related experience<p> <p> <p> Knowledge of building codes, regulations and municipal by-laws<p> <p> <p> Proven experience in successful project management including but not limited to, construction cost estimating and procurement <p> <p> <p> The candidate will be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Google Suite of applications (ie. docs, sheets, etc.) or MS Office<p> <p> <p> Superior organizational skills and time management skills<p> <p> <p> Effective communication and interpersonal skills<p> <p> <p> The position requires a valid driver?s licence and use of a personal vehicle <p> <p> <p> Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered<p> <p><p><p><p>This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent assignment with an anticipated start date as soon as the recruitment process has been completed.
