*Purpose and Scope*
To provide proactive HR support to management and non-management employees within guidelines of applicable provincial, federal legislation and Terms of the Collective Agreement. Responsible for implementation of policies, programs and procedures regarding all human resource functions.
*Organization Relationship*
The Human Resources Manager has a direct responsibility to perform required job functions in connection with work policies and procedures specific to the Company.
The Human Resources Manager reports to the President, and works closely with the Operations Manager and Chief Operating Officer to deliver exceptional internal and external customer support.
*Working Conditions*
Working conditions are normal for an office and manufacturing environment. The Human Resources Manager position requires working for extended periods of time on the computer. Prolonged periods of concentration and attention to detail. There will be times that the Human Resources Manager will be required on the production floor to carry out job functions.
*Responsibilities*
? Develop, coordinate and deliver proactive human resources programs, to ensure compliance with relevant legislations, collective agreement and organizational policies and procedures in order to reduce related corporate risks
? Build strong relationships with the management team, employees and the union utilizing proactive, cooperative and collaborative problem-solving approaches, and develop a good understanding of the business by using effective communication techniques
? Provide labour relations advice, including labour relations research, administration and consistent interpretation of the collective agreement and advising management on grievance administration and negotiations
? Develop and implement an effective recruitment strategy to attract qualified candidates to strengthen the quality of the workforce
? Maintain and enhance training and development programs to ensure a competent workforce
? Oversee performance appraisal programs
? Manage corrective discipline program
? Ensure employee records are maintained and up to date
? Oversees WSIB claims process (including review and analysis of benefit claims) and Health and Safety programs and ensures modified return to work programs are effective and adhered to
? Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs
? Prepare human resources statistics for management team
? Co-ordinate organizational communication strategy to foster a collective and productive corporate direction
? Maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system for keeping past and current records
? Additional responsibilities or duties, which are consistent with the position summary as assigned at the discretion of the President.
*Education and Training*
? University Degree or College Diploma with a focus on Human Resources Management and/or Industrial Relations
? Continuous human resources experience of five (5) or more years;
? Managerial experience in related field of three (3) or more years;
? Managerial experience in a Manufacturing Union environment will be considered an asset;
? Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, communication, problem-solving and decision-making and managerial skills;
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package, including email. Working knowledge of Syteline would be an asset;
? Ability to interpret and communicate human resources policies and procedures, legislation and collective agreements;
? Currently working towards (or have obtained) the CHRP will be considered an asset.
