We are excited to announce that NLHS will fund your training for the Certified Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course, a 14-day program, completed partially online. This training is offered in collaboration with Eastern Safety Services (www.easternsafety.ca) and classes will be held January 12-25, 2025. Please note, you must be available for in-person classroom instruction for four days during this period in Happy-Valley Goose Bay. Travel, accommodation and meals will be reimbursed based on eligibility criteria. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an EMR you will be a key member of the paramedicine team, directly impacting patient outcomes in critical moments. Your role will go beyond just operating an ambulance - you will be responsible for providing immediate care and support to patients in high-pressure situations. Here is a closer look at your day-to-day: EMERGENCY CARE: Responding to medical emergencies, operating the ambulance safely, and transporting patients requiring urgent care.Conducting patient assessments during transport, monitoring their condition, and providing stabilization as needed.Safely lifting and transferring patients, including in challenging environments, and administering Basic Life Support (BLS) as required (CPR, oxygen therapy, etc.). COLLABORATIVE CARE: Communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members to provide reassurance and critical information in high-pressure situations.Supporting multi-casualty incidents and coordinating care and transport efficiently with the team.
