Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Construction engineering technology/technician. Work site environment: Outdoors. Tasks: Conduct environmental impact studies. Conduct feasibility studies. Conduct municipal and regional traffic studies. Design and plan structural steel fabrications. Design and plan various types of dams. Develop procedures to clean up contaminated sites. Monitor air, water and soil quality. Plan and design bridges. Plan and design buildings. Plan and design highway/roadway projects. Plan and design water and waste management systems. Act as project or site supervisor for land survey or construction work. Conduct site visits to gather relevant information . Conduct technical analyses of survey and field data for development of topographic, soil, hydrological or other information and prepare reports. Confer with clients and other members of the engineering team and conduct research to determine project requirements. Develop construction specifications and procedures. Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations. Establish and monitor construction work schedules. Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials. Interpret, review and approve survey and civil design work. Prepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction projects. Provide customer service. Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates. Offer mentoring. Inspect construction of building and engineering construction. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. 3-4 people. 5-10 people. 11-15 people. 16-20 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Computer and technology knowledge: AutoCAD. Mapping and data visualization software. Autodesk REVIT. MS Excel. Area of work experience: Computer software development. Design. Environmental assessment. Operations. Quality assurance or control. Research and development.
