Malahat Nation is seeking a dedicated and hard-working Finance Manager with experience working with Indigenous communities in Finance. We are looking for fun, energetic, dependable and organized staff. Our staff are offered opportunities for professional growth and development.PURPOSE: Reporting to the Director of Finance (DOF), the Finance Manager will assist in the day-to-day management of the financial administration of the Malahat Nation. The Finance Manager plays a key role in oversight of the Finance Department, as well as enforcement of Financial Administration Law and Malahat Nation policies organization-wide. This position is a fulltime permanent position that works in the office, with minimal local travel as required.RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Director of Finance in managing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department Assist the Director of Finance in onboarding and providing ongoing training of Finance Department staff Assist the Director of Finance in annual Financial Management System reviews, providing input and recommendations for improvements Assist department leads in retrieving and interpreting financial information for reporting purposes Payroll duties including but not limited to preparation and submission of bi-monthly payroll to the Director of Finance, and reviewing for accuracy bi-monthly payroll prepared by Finance department staff Bank reconciliation duties including but not limited to preparation and submission of monthly bank account and visa statement reconciliations to the Director of Finance for review, compliant with relevant Finance Policy deadlines Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties, including but not limited to data entry, review of data entry prepared by Finance department staff, preparation and mailing monthly receivables invoices, timely and accurate processing of payments, and depositing of funds into bank accounts of the Malahat Nation Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations to the Director of Finance, including but not limited to: benefits and pension reconciliations, clearing account reconciliations, accounts payables statement reconciliations, etc. Prepare and maintain various financial spreadsheets, such as benefits tracking, pensions reconciliation, rent invoicing, stat calculation, etc. Review and submit monthly Income Assistance payables runs to the Director of Finance for processing, as prepared by the Community Programs Department Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual remittances, including but not limited to monthly pension remittance, quarterly and annual WCB remittance, bi-monthly Receiver General remittance, annual GST remittance, etc. Provide support to the Director of Finance in year-end and audit-related activities Support and facilitate meetings of the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC), including scheduling meetings and procuring supplies, drafting agendas, taking minutes, tracking and updating action items, drafting reports to FAC and Council on the activities of the FAC for review of the DOF and CAO, tracking and assisting in the completion of Financial Administration Law (FAL) required tasks Troubleshoot, problem-solve, and provide support to other Malahat Nation staff in the use of in- house accounting software i.e. Xyntax Prepare, maintain, and ensure confidential recordkeeping of a varie
