*Objective:*
To plan, develop, and ensure the effectiveness of instructional design, integrating Indigenous teaching and learning approaches, according to the OFIFCs pedagogical framework.
*Key Deliverables:*
To design curricula and develop resources reflective of Indigenous approaches to teaching and learning.
*Key Responsibilities:*
Instructional Design (60%):
? Designs teaching and learning modules, materials, courses, processes, evaluations and supportive resources for Instructors, Friendship Centres and external partners;
? Designs curriculum and resources that are adaptable for in-person, blended and online delivery methods;
? Incorporates Indigenous cultural concepts related to lifelong learning, experiential learning, and online learning;
? Collaboratively designs assessment models, learning objectives, and evaluation approaches that reflect Indigenous cultural contexts;
? Reviews existing curriculum to ensure that programs and initiatives meet intended objectives, and standards, and reflect Indigenous community needs;
? Supports the development and accreditation of the OPLC;
? Reviews provincial quality assurance standards and supports institutional alignment;
? Keeps informed with industry standards of performance and ensures materials and content are relevant and credible;
? Participates in research and engages with Elders and Friendship Centres on curriculum design; and
? Incorporates a variety of teaching methods in curriculum design that accommodate learner needs, prioritize a trauma-informed lens, and promote learner engagement.
Collaboration and Support (35%):
? Partners with other lines of business to provide instructional design expertise as required;
? Works in partnership with key OFIFC personnel in the review, evaluation, revision, and enhancement of existing and future Lifelong Learning initiatives;
? Works collaboratively to identify Indigenous learners and Friendship Centre needs as well as develop appropriate resources, tools, modules, processes, and practices;
? Providing support directly or indirectly to Friendship Centres based upon communicated needs;
? Identifying action items and an analysis of current issues;
? Participates in internal integration, professional development, and partnerships in support of enhanced learning opportunities for urban Indigenous populations;
? Identifies resources and develops workshop opportunities that support skill development related to Indigenous teaching and learning approaches;
? Builds relationships with Indigenous pedagogy and curriculum design teams at postsecondary institutions;
? Engages with and learns from Elders and Knowledge keepers supportive of instructional design priorities;
? Collects resources that support teaching and learning with Indigenous communities; and
? Occasionally Instructs courses when required.
Other (5%):
? Maintains and upgrades professional skills;
? Performs other duties, related to the position, as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, or designate.
*Education/Work Experience:*
? A master?s degree in education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience with emphasis on Indigenous connections, lived experience, and learning;
? Minimum 2 years experience in course design or curriculum development;
? 1-2 years working with Indigenous communities in Indigenous knowledge transfer, preferably within an Indigenous organization; and
? Instructional Experience is an asset.
