Are you looking to build on your knowledge, skills, and experience in horticulture and grounds maintenance? City of Surrey?s Park Landscape Operations section provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and we are looking for temporary full time skilled workers.In this position, you will be involved in general labouring responsibilities including manual and semi-skilled tasks involving considerable physical effort and a variety of landscape maintenance jobs. You will be working in teams that maintain gardens, medians, open space turf areas and outdoor space around public buildings. Public relations and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position.RESPONSIBILITIES As a temporary Parks Labourer, you will be working with experienced Park Landscape Operations staff to provide general landscape maintenance duties throughout Surrey. You will be completing tasks that involve considerable physical effort and the use of relevant tools and equipment. Responsibilities will include: Mowing grass. Maintenance including weeding and pruning of a variety of park horticulture. General park maintenance. Demonstrating safe work practices. QUALIFICATIONS Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Have a valid Class 5 BC Driver?s License with a safe driving record. Have relevant training and experience performing manual labour. Have strong public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills. Be able to complete work of a heavy manual nature in all weather conditions. Hands-on experience with related tools and equipment is preferred.OTHER INFORMATION Pay Grade: Schedule D $29.89This position requires completion of a Police Information Check and Class 5 Licence with a Safe Driving Record.www.surrey.ca/careers
