Relocation supportFor more information on incentives please visit www.workinhealthnl.ca/incentives or email employment@easternhealth.ca Competition Number VAC0004943 Posted Date 2024-12-09 Closing Date Open until filled Demands, duties, qualifications Job Summary As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner provides quality care to patients of the Children's and Women's Health Program (CWHP). The NP will work with the Obstetrics and Gynecology team across the site to optimize care flow for inpatient health services. This position works within the Nurse Practitioner's (NP) scope of practice in the following category of practice: Family/All Ages. This is an advanced practice role providing professional, analytical and an autonomous comprehensive range of health services to patients including but not limited to health assessments and diagnosis of diseases, disorders, injuries and conditions; treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses and identifying health risks and needs within a holistic model.Services will be provided using an inter-professional collaborative approach where patients will see the right provider at the right time and right place. All health care providers, including NPs, will be expected to practice to their full scope of practice to meet patient needs and requirements. The NP will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of aspects of Women's Health care across the lifespan: antenatal, postpartum and gynecology. The work includes but is not limited to care of high risk patients, labor assessment, pelvic examination, Fetal Health Surveillance, perinatal mental health, health promotion of cervical screening, breastfeeding support in a Baby-Friendly environment, pre-operative and post-operative care; ordering medications, performing or ordering diagnostic tests and treatments, evaluating treatments, providing ongoing follow up care, discharge planning and collaborating across units for patient flow efficiency.The NP encompasses the roles of practitioner, educator, researcher, leader, and consultant within the regulated scope of practice and CRNNL standards. The NP will participate in research and care guidelines to promote best practices and develops policies and practice guidelines to ensure consistent, evidence-based practice throughout women's health services.Flexible hours may be required (Combination of days, evenings, nights and weekends).This position reports to the CWHP Division Manager responsible for the HSC Women's Health Inpatient Care Unit. Job Demands By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):Constantly moves, lifts, or operates equipment/machinery up to 10 lbs. and regularly is required to lift/move equipment, books, supplies. Regularly have to reposition a patients up to and over 50 lbs.Physical effort also includes regularly stands, sits or walks to conduct patient assessments and treatments, performing work at desks and on the computer.When performing procedures, regularly uses fine finger/precision work and hand tools (i.e. medical instruments, computer mouse, stethoscope, doppler, scanners, monitors, etc.) requiring accurate control and steadiness.Visual concentration is required when performing physical assessment and procedures, completing charts/reports, observing patients, reading equipment / monitors, and completing work-related correspondence on paper and computer.
