Located in the heart of Downtown Markham, Kiu is a concept that was created with the intention to showcase high quality fresh ingredients presented with fundamental Japanese cooking technique while offering warm and inviting hospitality. Guest of Kiu Japanese restaurant will enjoy a versatile dining experience that strives to be memorable.
Kiu Japanese Restaurant is accepting applications for *chef de partie.*
Position is available for full time or part time employment.
The *chef de partie *will work closely with the kitchen management team to ensure the service each day is as efficient as possible. The *chef de partie* will maintain a sense of professionalism, cleanliness, efficiency and a drive for excellence. This role includes opening and/or closing duties and step in on the line for the need of the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ability to work under pressure while maintain a professional demeanour.
* Basic knowledge of common seasonal ingredients.
* Required to retain new knowledge of ingredients used in our cuisine and most specifically in miso en place items assigned to prep list.
* Basic knife skills and ability to work with kitchen tools and equipment.
* Thorough knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to fryers, blenders, food processors, mixers and pasta boiler.
* Consistently ensure that prep duties are prepared, seasoned and executed to the standard taught by the Kiu Japanese Restaurant senior kitchen team.
* Attention to detail including labeling, dating and FIFO principal.
* Participate all activities with regards to maintaining the kitchen and the restaurant in deep cleaning effort.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* 1+ years of experience in restaurant kitchen or similar commercial kitchen.
* A passion for cuisine and art of dining.
* Self motivated and extreme drive to learn and collaborate.
* Food Handler Certificate.
* Open availability and willing to accept guidance and constructive criticism.
Education/Experience:
* Culinary school or other form of culinary training
* High School Diploma
