Ready to shape the future of Oak Bay? As a Lead Skilled Labourer, you?ll play a critical role in maintaining and improving the District?s essential infrastructure. From overseeing complex projects to mentoring the next generation of skilled workers, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact. The Lead Skilled Labourer performs skilled and technical manual work in the construction and maintenance of all nature of municipal infrastructure, including sewers, drains and waterworks. The incumbent is relied on as the senior skilled technician for guidance, instruction, and training in manual on- site construction work. Additional requirements include a minimum of three years in a Public Works construction environment, completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, courses in plan reading and underground utility locating, National Utility Locating Contractors Association (NULCA) certification or an approved equivalent, Water Distribution Level II Certification, Wastewater Collection Level I Certification, and a valid and subsisting BC Driver?s License. This position is represented by CUPE Local 374. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment, continued career and professional development opportunities, employee engagement events, work-life balance, and a staff membership to the weightroom, fitness classes, skating and pool. An employer of choice, the District of Oak Bay is committed to fostering a culture of empowerment, accountability, and teamwork.
