*Job Description*
Eve Technologies is a global biomarker laboratory that serves the biomedical and health sciences industry. Partnering with researchers, government agencies, and pharmaceutical companies, Eve Technologies carries out assay services that are essential to research.
We are looking to fill a *laboratory assistant* position at our NW Calgary location right by the Bow River down from the Foothills Hospital. An Eve Technologies lab assistant will work with our team in preparing samples for testing, preparing reagents, receiving and storing samples, shipping samples, equipment maintenance, and administrative support. This position will provide approximately 25-35 hours of work per week.
*Qualifications:*
*Minimum 2 years lab experience IN HEALTH SCIENCES.*
As an ideal candidate, you have at least 2 years of experience in laboratory work. If you do not have an MLT diploma or certificate, having a Bachelors of Science degree would be an asset. You have experience with making reagents / buffers, handling biological samples, and pipetting. You are skilled at using advanced equipment, have steady hands and good coordination. Ideally, you are trained to work in a Biohazard Level 2 lab. You possess proficient computer skills particularly with Excel. You are excellent in writing and speaking English. You are an adaptable individual and your willingness to help allows you to eagerly take direction from various team members. Your strong work ethic leads you to be self-motivated and you are able to work independently. You have good judgement and problem solving skills.

*Technical Work*
Perform buffer and kit preparation with a high level of quality and consistency
Assist lab technicians with tasks such as sample racking and preparation
Receive and send packages
Use highly complex and expensive laboratory equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Undertake effective time management in the daily planning of own work
Participate in the laboratory?s quality management procedures
To be aware of health and safety issues pertinent to laboratory work
Use personal protective equipment, as required by the laboratory health and safety procedures
Ensure any anomalies / errors are reported to senior staff as soon as possible
Understand a range of routine work procedures, with some theoretical knowledge
Solve first-line problems, such as unlabelled specimens
Prioritize workload to include urgent specimens
Follow the standard operating procedures
Monitor and maintain stocks of laboratory supplies
Co-ordinate the disposal of laboratory waste
*Administrative Work*
Provide administrative support to cover vacation time or as needed.
*REQUIRED SKILLS:*
· Laboratory Experience
· Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
· Excellent English (speaking and written)
· Strong interpersonal skills and an exceptional customer service skill set
· Ability to learn and adapt quickly
· Proficient with computers (MS Word and Excel)
· Ability to work in a team and independently
· Strong work ethic and self motivated
· Good judgment and problem solving skills
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
