Discovery Academy was founded by the current owner in 2006. She is a Physics PhD researcher as well as a mathematician and educator who committed her life to teaching. We are looking to hire high school teachers for credit subjects like Biology (SBI3U/4U), Chemistry (SCH3U/4U), Physics (SPH3U/4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus (MCV4U), Data Management (MDM4U), Gr 12 English (ENG4U) for the WINTER courses (after school/night school + weekend). If you are engaging, and are passionate about teaching any of these subjects, please submit your resume. Must have 1-2 years in-class experience as well as a University degree. Must be a permanent resident within 10-20km from Yonge and Major Mackenzie. Please submit your resume . The ideal candidate will be active in the community and make themselves available for parent consultations, taking parent suggestions and discussing the educational needs of individual students. Examples of responsibilities: -Uphold our educational policies and integrate the common core guidelines into each class curriculum -Create benchmarks for students and track progress towards those goals -Provide guidance to the school?s network of student leaders and challenge those leaders to make the school a better place -Respond immediately to concerns from parents and school board administrators - Have a commitment to creating a productive educational experience - Bring energy to the classroom and school environment to motivate students -Introduce interesting topics outside of the curriculum surrounding science and recent developments such as AI Job Types: Part-time, Permanent Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour Expected hours: 5 ? 20 per week Additional pay: * Bonus pay * Retention bonus Schedule: * Evening shift * Monday to Friday * Weekends as needed Ability to commute/relocate: * Richmond Hill, ON L4C 1T8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Experience: * classroom teaching: 2 years (required) Work Location: In person Expected start date: 2025-02-03
