Education: Bachelor's degree. Work setting: Manufacturing or processing industry. Repair and overhaul organization. Public utilities. Manufacture. Hydro plant. Tasks: Supervise and inspect the installation of mechanical systems. Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs. Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems. Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems. Prepare standards and schedules. Prepare contracts and tenders. Estimate costs and materials. Design tools, moulds, jigs and fixtures. Assist in preparing design, drawings and specifications. Prepare and interpret engineering design, drawings and specifications. Supervise maintenance programs or operation of mechanical plants. Carry out a limited range of mechanical tests and analyses of machines, components and materials. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Certified Engineering Technologist (CET). Project Management Professional (PMP). Computer and technology knowledge: AutoCAD. Project management software. Computer-aided design (CAD). MS Office. MS Excel. MS PowerPoint. MS Word. Autodesk Inventor. MS Outlook. MS Project. Type of industry experience: Hydro power generation stations. Area of specialization: Hydraulics and fluids. Mobile equipment. Rotating equipment tools.
