If you answered yes, our *Pinawa, Manitoba* location is looking to fill the role of *Civil Engineer. *Reporting to the Whiteshell (WL) Manager of Engineering, the Civil Engineer will provide support for the development of preliminary, conceptual and detailed design of civil structures. The Civil Engineer will also provide subject matter expert (SME) support for civil and structural design work, including project engineering and infrastructure demolition engineering activities that may present itself during the execution of decommissioning or environmental remediation projects at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). Responsibilities include preparation and review of the supporting documentation to design such as scope of works, design requirements, calculations, design plans, design manuals, technical specifications, technical notes, conceptual reports, customer proposals, work plans, schedules, estimates, field walk down reports and liaising with project leaders, contractors, customers and regulators. The Civil Engineer is responsible for ensuring that work within their responsibility is performed to meet or exceed applicable quality, code, regulatory and customer requirements. This includes ensuring the design deliverables provided by 3rd party design agencies meet all of CNL?s quality program requirements and standards. Can you see yourself filling this role? If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you! *What will you be doing?* * Interpret design drawings, documents, and data collected from field visits and client?s needs. * Develop innovative and safe solutions to Civil Engineering challenges that may arise during the field season. Safe compensatory measures also need to be part of the solution portfolio. * Interpret clients? needs and make recommendations as to alternatives to satisfy the need and the recommended solution and prepare the final solution (design, report). * Devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners and draw conclusions from comparative situations. * Accept recommendations as technically accurate and feasible. * Act as a mentor to other engineers. * Provide the necessary Civil/Structural Engineering Expert advice and recommendations to the Engineering Manager for decision and guidance. * Evaluate existing civil, structural, and architectural design to accommodate safe and efficient demolition of infrastructure or project modifications. * Contribute to the development of conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of structures, other infrastructure and decommissioning. * Prepare design documents, design requirements, design descriptions, technical specifications, calculations, tendering documents, standards, procedures and analyses reports. * Review and/or recommend technical specification for Civil/Structural Engineering equipment, tests, and processes/procedures. * Provide engineering support during the modification, decommissioning and demolition phases of projects. * Provide subject matter expert review and acceptance of modification, project and demolition designs prepared by outside agencies. * Supervise technical staff and/or junior staff. * Liaise with external contractors and internal Project Supervisors. * Develop engineering specifications and standards facilitating a consistent design approach. *What we are looking for:* *Someone who has the ability to:* * Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and interact with staff at various levels of the organization. * Use excellent oral and written English communication skills; previous experience making technical presentations to small and large audiences. * Demonstrate effective team leadership and team-building skills. * Exercise sound judgment in technical matters, to routinely solve technical problems and to make independent decisions. * Provide engineering oversi
