Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Urban area. Community agency. Various locations. Social service or charity agency. Recreational facility/institution. Swimming. Fitness centre. Tasks: Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs. Conduct follow-up assessments. Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research. Assist clients/guests with special needs. Accompany clients to appointments and social outings. Manage events. Manage knowledge. Leading/instructing groups. Lead groups and individuals in recreational or leisure programs. Instruct groups and individuals in arts and crafts. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Assist with coordination of recreational, sport and fitness events . Prepare reports. Understand principles of group dynamics. Leading/instructing individuals. Plan and carry out recreational, fitness and sports activities. Assemble supplies, sports and game equipment. Monitor recreational, sports or fitness activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required. Supervision: No supervision responsibility. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Community disability studies Certificate. Developmental services worker (DSW) Training. Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate. Medication Administration Certificate. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Child welfare check. Driving record check (abstract). Vulnerable sector check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Public transportation is available.
