Shango Canada, a multinational mining company, completed the second phase of construction on its plant in Port-Cartier. The plant is scheduled to begin production in September. The company will hire its first employees shortly.
The Ville de Schefferville will invest $65M in repairing its road network and its water treatment infrastructure. Construction should begin in the spring of 2025.
The Municipalité de L’Île-d’Anticosti is investing $8M, which is being funded mainly by the Government of Quebec, in building a new water treatment plant. The project should be completed next year.
ArcelorMittal, a steel company, will begin rehabilitating its pellet plant in Port-Cartier this fall. The investment of over $200M will reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
Groupe Boisaco, a forestry cooperative, will close its sawmill in Sacré-Coeur temporarily from July 11 to August 10
The City of Sept-Îles is currently renovating its drinking water treatment plant. The $15M project got under way in January.
