Step 1 Create your user account

Before you can use Job Bank, you have to create your own user account. This will only take a few minutes.

You’ll need:

  • Your social insurance number
  • Your mother’s maiden name or parent’s last name at birth
  • Your birth date

Job Bank needs this information to validate your identity and eligibility. You will only have to submit it once.

Your user account belongs to you only. You’ll be able to use it to post jobs for different employers if you need to.

Page 1: First, go to the job bank website, and then click on "Recruit and Hire". This will bring you to a page for employers.

Page 2: Once on this page, click on "Post a job".

Page 3: Before you begin your registration, read the instructions that apply to your situation and click on "Proceed".

Page 4: Read carefully the "Terms of use and conditions". If you wish to continue, click "I agree"

Page 5: Step 1. Enter your email and a password. This information will be used as your log-in information.

Page 6: Step 2. Enter the confirmation code that you have received by email.

Page 7: Step 3. Enter your authentication information. Remember: Do not register or use someone else’s personal information.

Page 8: Step 4. Select your security questions and answers

Page 9: You have now successfully created a Job Bank user account.

Step 2 Register the business

Once you’ve created a user account, you have to register the business.

You’ll need:

  • the Payroll Account Number
  • the business information registered with Canada Revenue Agency
  • the primary business address and the business mailing address

Job Bank has to ensure its employers are real businesses posting real jobs. Your file will be reviewed and processed within a week.

Page 1: Once you have created your user account, click on “Register a new employer”.

Page 2: Step 1. Select your relationship with the business.

This step requires you to self-identify by specifying your role in relation to the employer. Pick the option that best applies to you from the drop-down menu and click on “Continue”.

Page 3: Step 2. Enter the 15-digit payroll account number from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Whether you’re creating the file for your own business or on behalf of someone else, you must enter the employer’s active payroll account number, as it was issued by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Click on “Continue”.

Page 4: Step 3. Enter the employer’s information as it appears on documents from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Select the type of business from the drop down menu, and enter the legal business name. If the business operates under another name, you can add it here and display it on your job postings later.

Then, select the industrial sector and the size of the business. At this step, you must also indicate if the business is a recruitment or placement agency.

Click on “Continue”.

Page 5: Step 4. Enter the primary business address and the mailing address.

If you want to use a business email to receive resumes from candidates, enter it here. You will be able to select this email address as an application method when you create job postings.

Click on “Complete registration”.

Page 6: You have now successfully created a new employer file!

You will receive a confirmation message in your inbox with your employer file number. While your file is pending review, you can create and submit job postings. Once your employer file is approved, your job posting will be reviewed and advertised on Job Bank with the mention “Verified job”.

Page 7: If you need to advertise a job posting for a different employer, you must create a new employer file. You will be able to manage all of your employer files easily from your dashboard.

Step 3 Advertise job opportunities

You’ve registered the business? You can now start posting jobs!

  • Select the job details from a list of pre-defined options. No need to write anything!
  • Your job posting will be approved and advertised within 2 business days.
  • When you post on Job Bank, job seekers can see your job posting through many ways on our website: job search results, alert emails and on our mobile app.

Step 4 Start recruiting

When you post on Job Bank, your jobs are automatically matched to qualified job seekers through Job Match. You can view the profiles of all candidates matching your job requirements and invite them to apply with one click.

You can also allow registered job seekers to apply by sharing their resume directly from your job posting. This way, you can manage and store all the resumes you receive on Job Bank. You can easily view the resumes and download them for your records.

Page 1: After posting job, go to your dashboard. The dashboard shows all the jobs posted for your business. To see matched job seekers, simply click on the green number.

Page 2: Job seeker profiles are ranked according to "best match". Click on the page icon to view more details about a job seeker.

Page 3: Click the "Invite to apply" button. Job Bank will notify the job seeker that you are inviting them to apply for your job.

Page 4: At any time, you can consult your Activity Report to see the number of profiles viewed, invitations sent, as well as job seeker activity for your job posting
