Thank you for your interest in a career as a <p> Speech-Language Pathologist <p>with the York Region District School Board.<p> <p>This application is for Speech-Language Pathologist opportunities for the 2024/2025 school year.<p><p>Please Note: Travel from site to site will be required.<p>Important : Internal YRDSB staff must apply to internal job postings posted through the BWW.<p>In compliance with Board policies and procedures, responsible for two main areas of responsibility for any student with a communication difficulty involving speaking, listening, reading and/or writing. These areas are: consultation and liaison, and assessment.<p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: <p><p> To consult with regular and special education teachers, Student Services staff, educational assistants, administrative staff and parents regarding speech and language programs, resources, accommodations and modifications for any student with a communication difficulty involving speaking, listening, reading, and/or writing.<p> To act as a resource to the In-School Team to support the preventative approach through consultation.<p> To provide workshops to meet identified needs of York Region District School Board staff.<p> To liaise with and refer to community services and agencies such as Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) and hospitals.<p> To assist in the interpretation of medical information and assessment reports from outside agencies as they relate to Speech-Language Pathology.<p> To support the development of the Individual Education Plan.<p> To provide formal and informal assessment and observation of students with communication difficulties involving speaking, listening, reading and/or writing.<p> To interpret and discuss assessment results, recommendations and program modifications with appropriate staff and parents.<p> To assist preschool children with special needs to make the transition from preschool programs to school programs.<p> To work with teachers and administration to assess students? needs with respect to SEA funding.<p> To carry out other duties as may be assigned by the Coordinator Speech Language Pathology Services, Principals of Student Services, Student Services Coordinators and/or the Superintendent of Student Services.<p><p>EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: <p><p> A Master?s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).<p> Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical and computer skills are required.<p> Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required. <p><p><p>Additional Information:<p> <p><p> <p> <p> In the application process, you will be prompted to provide at least three (3) professional, supervisory references (including full name, position title, work location/organization, and email address) in the job posting screening section of the online application.<p> <p> We do not contact references prior to practicum/interview.<p> <p> <p> <p> <p> For your information, a list of YRDSB Schools <p> is provided.<p> <p> <p><p><p><p><p>Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Statement<p><p> The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) believes in giving each and every applicant an equal opportunity to succeed on their own merit and we strive to hire staff that reflect and support the diverse perspectives, experiences and needs of students and communities.
