Barrier Ridge Capital Inc. (BRC) is a unique private equity firm with a different approach. BRC utilizes its success in operating companies to view private equity opportunities through an entrepreneur?s lens.
We are looking for Property Staff Accountant with the ability to manage a portfolio of multiple properties. The incumbent will be responsible for full cycle accounting for commercial properties, approximately 15 entities monthly.
The staff accountant must have experience in managing multiple transactional accounting and ensuring accurate information is captured and reported.
*Key Accountabilities*
General duties:
* Provide full cycle accounting for BRC real estate properties.
* Enter lease information into the accounting system for lease payment schedules associated with new leases, mortgages, renewals, and amendments
* Perform matching, batching and coding of vendor invoices
* Maintaining, accurate and up to date tracking, filing and payments of vendor invoices and all relevant documentation
* Prepare month-end journal entries and maintain monthly bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliations to the sub ledger: cash, accounts receivable, inter-company balances, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued expenses and liabilities.
* Prepare monthly operating income statements and balance sheets for all Company owned and third-party residential properties with supporting schedules and submit to senior management team for review.
* Oversee A/R and A/P including review cash requirement reports and reconcile tenant statements. Monitor banking deposits and daily balances.
* Monitor operational expenses on a monthly basis by performing variance analysis.
* Review and initial residential expenditures including allocation to appropriate property and expense account.
* Ensure all monthly financial reports are delivered accurately and on a timely basis;
* Ensure all accounting records related to all properties are kept up to date within guidelines established by generally accepted accounting principles and by the company;
* Review and post monthly rental invoices .
* Ensure all GST and other legislated taxes are reconciled and remitted;
* Responsible for completing accounting portion of assigned budgets within assigned deadlines;
* Assist with auditor requirements, including the company?s audit firm and all partner/co-owner audit firms, as well as government audits when required;
* Assist in the accounting of property acquisitions and dispositions and participate in the due diligence and statement of adjustment phases, as required;
*Qualifications*
* Minimum 3 to 5 years real estate/property accounting experience
* Intermediate to advanced excel skills with the ability to provide financial reports
* Excellent oral and written communication skills;
* Ideal with appraisal experience or designation, AACI
* Ideal with property leases experiences
* Exceptional time management skills
* Good analytical skills
* Working knowledge of financial software, Jonas and/or other equivalent softwares
