The City of Winnipeg will soon require its staff to work in the office at least three days per week. Currently about 1,650 of the city’s 10,400 employees work remotely at least part of the time. Some city councillors believe the change will be good for the downtown economy, while the union representing City workers worries the new requirement will hinder recruitment and retention efforts.
The Red River Exhibition Association has submitted a proposal to the City of Winnipeg, requesting to lease and refurbish the John Blumberg Sports Complex in Headingley. The non-profit hopes to turn the dormant complex into a multi-sport facility with space for lacrosse, soccer, archery, and kayaking. A report on the proposal is expected next year.

A new pickleball facility is currently under construction in Headingley. The Pickleball Club of Winnipeg will include eight indoor courts and a clubhouse. It is slated to open in January 2025, with four outdoor courts to be added next summer.

The governments of Canada and Manitoba are providing a combined $986,000 to Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad, a Winnipeg organization serving at-risk youth. The funds will be used to provide programming and public health services at Tina's Safe Haven, the non-profit's 24-hour drop-in centre.

Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville has reached a tentative agreement with its workers, avoiding a strike. Eighty-five members of the International Union of Operating Engineers had voted to strike, including health care aides, housekeepers, laundry workers and recreation workers.
